Spring 2026 - Portland Elks Scholar Service Trip

The 2026 Spring Elks Scholar Service Trip took place March 19-23 in Portland, Maine. Eleven Elks scholars from around the nation came together to serve in the name of the Elks. At Furniture Friends, which supplies free furniture to combat housing insecurity, scholars helped clients pick out items, delivered furniture to clients around Portland, and tidied the warehouse. Later that night, they volunteered at STRIVE Night, a program offering teens and young adults with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to have fun and interact with their peers. The scholars enjoyed leading games, dancing, and crafting with participants. At Maine Needs, scholars sorted through clothing donations that will go out to partner organizations.

And a service trip isn't complete without a visit to a Lodge! The Portland, Maine, Lodge No. 188 hosted breakfast and a service activity. Scholars helped to pack bags of groceries that were donated to three different charities combatting hunger.
